Christmas Time

Christmas has got to be one of my favorite times of the year... other being super busy as I'm sure we all are with gatherings, and concerts etc. Yesterday was Christmas at our house with my parents. Kai got her first "real" camera ... okay I'm not gonna be using it anytime soon for my work but it really does take photos as you can tell she was pretty excited to get it when she unwrapped it.

She walked around the house pretty much all day with the camera asking everyone to smile for a picture including the Christmas tree. Now you can tell that she watches me when I'm shooting I guess because she had to carry the camera over one shoulder like I usually carry mine. I didn't realize how much she watched me until I saw this picture of her and I both taking a picture of Anita taking our picture. This wasn't set up she just squatted down beside me to take the shot.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Elk Horn Resort

This last weekend we went up to Elk Horn Resort with my wife's family. It was a great weekend with a fair bit of snow all weekend. Of course I had to get a bunch of photos of Kai playing outside in the snow, isn't she just the cutest little bear?? :-)

I got a couple of shot of her with her cousins as well, nothing beats watching kids playing outside they love this weather.

After a bit of time playing outside Uncle Darryl took Kai and Teagan down the hill on the toboggan... this seemed like a great idea but I'm not sure if Kai will go on a toboggan again, and having a camera there I had to get a shot of Kai before consoled her after her run....

I love you peanut.

Play time

I ran into some friends of mine in the store the on Saturday and they asked if I was Christmas shopping because I had a large aquarium in my shopping cart, I told them no but I think I kind of was. I bought the aquarium to do some shots that I wanted to do. I got some ideas from a display saw a while back... I was going to get shots of fruit, strawberries in particular as they fell into water.... wow was it fun and we got some super cool shots. My good friend Doug Friesen come down and we spent several hours dropping and throwing different things into water, we were like a couple of little boys playing... haaahaaaa. Check out some of the shots.

I had also had the idea of dropping some food coloring into water and photographing it as it spread out in the water... I had no idea we'd get the kind of effect that we did ... it was so totally amazing.

I should probably also mention that if anyone would like any of these as art work for their home give me a shout.

Angels & Snowmen.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, just below freezing outside and perfect weather to get out with Kai and build a snowman. Now I'm not sure who had more fun playing outside me or Kai but it was a blast for sure, here is a shot of 'Sam' that's our snowman's name... what else would you name a snowman?? :)

Winter Fun

Now I know most of us don't like winter but when you have a little girl that loves playing outside in the snow suddenly snow becomes a lot more fun. Here's just one shot that I got of Kai and Anita as we spent the morning outside having some fun.

Party Time

Wednesday night a bunch of photographers got together to network and socialize. It was a good time with probably about 40 photographers showing up at Trevor's place. If you're a photographer and missed this one you better keep your eyes and ears open for the next get together.

Beautiful Day

Today was just an absolutely beautiful day, especially for this time of year. We had the whole family over for my wife's birthday party today and spent most of the afternoon outside enjoying what will be one of the last great days I'm sure. It also gave me a chance to try out some new "toys" that I just got. I just purchased a Nikon D700 and the 24-70 2.8 lens... what a sweet system!
Here are a couple of random shots of my daughter and her cousins playing outside and just having some fun.

EXCELLENT!!!

This past weekend I was attending the Professional Photographers of Canada - Manitoba Provincial convention. The convention had two days of speakers followed by social evenings with fellow photographers... it was a great weekend of networking. To kick off the the weekend there was a print competition. Now for those of you who aren't aware of what this is, a panel of judges made up of photographers from across Canada comes in to judge the photos that are submitted. This year was a tough year in this category as only one excellent ribbon was awarded in the entire print competition and I'm proud to say that I was the maker of the only image to receive this award, as well as a judges choice ribbon.
A big thanks to Madison & Amanda and the rest of their wedding party for "posing" for this shot titled " Express Yourself "

Family Time

I photographed a great family a few days ago... the weather turned out absolutely perfect for us as we headed out for the shoot. Steph & Adam had a location picked out that they often went to where they wanted photos done, here are a couple of shots... I love the last shot of Evian "flying"

Beauty and the .... beast???

Well the one thing I'm sure of is that I definitely had a beauty for the photo... the beast part I'm not to sure of although, Monica did have her Dad's old Jeep for a lot of the shots which I guess one might call a beast :)
I had so much fun working with Monica for her grad photos, she was so totally cool, willing to go anywhere and do anything for photos and the shots turned out awesome because of it.
Here are a few of the many shots that we got yesterday... congratulations Monica... thanks for giving me the chance to photograph you.
